Michael Kargl, PhD lives in Vienna/Austria. He worked as an artist and researcher at the interface of conceptual art and performative materiality. The question of perception was at the centre of his work. Perception in relation to materials and media, but also the exploration of the influence of materiality on our perception.
Activities include co-leading the research project “originalcopy-Post-Digital Strategies of Appropriation” (2016-2019) at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, funded by the Austrian Science Fund, teaching at the University of Applied Arts, the University Mozarteum Salzburg and the Vienna Art School.
He has had solo exhibitions in Vienna, Copenhagen and Lisbon, among others. Exhibition participations include the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Bogotá, the Moscow Biennial and the National Museum of Contemporary Art Athens.
